          Congratulations to Winnie Tam Wan-chi SC (1978) who has been appointed the new
        
        
          Chairwoman of the Hong Kong Bar Association, the official professional organisation of over
        
        
          1,300 barristers in Hong Kong. Winnie is a specialist in intellectual property law and was
        
        
          called to the Bar in Hong Kong in 1984 and took silk (appointed “Senior Counsel” by the
        
        
          Chief Justice of Hong Kong) in 2006. She was appointed a Recorder of the Court of First
        
        
          Instance, High Court of Hong Kong SAR, with effect from 1 January 2015, to serve for a
        
        
          month every year as a judge in the High Court.
        
        
          Winnie is also an accomplished musician who has received numerous awards and
        
        
          scholarships in various singing competitions, and was active as a choir conductor both in
        
        
          SPCC and HKU. In recent years, she has devoted her spare time to building the charity Lin
        
        
          Yao Ji Music Foundation of China that aims to nurture and promote talented musicians and
        
        
          raise the awareness and level of appreciation for classical music amongst the general public.
